Using Our Online Services is Safe and Secure

When you use QuickBooks Online, your financial data is stored safely on our servers. This means you're not tied to a single computer - you can log in from any internet-connected Mac or PC, and most mobile phones.

 Here's what we do to keep your information safe in QuickBooks Online:

  1. We use advanced, industry-recognised safeguards to protect your data with the same encryption as most online banks.
  2. We protect our servers in a secure data centre with 24/7 security staff, video surveillance and alarms. We monitor server performance round the clock, and we've installed uninterruptible power supplies plus flood and fire detection systems.
  3. We've made QuickBooks Online a VeriSign Secured product. VeriSign® is the leading secure sockets layer (SSL) certificate authority. We use SSL to encrypt your financial data.
  4. We backup data for you. We take a safe copy of your data every day and store it in a different location. If your computer breaks or is stolen, just log back in from another machine. Easy!

Our systems already handle millions of US tax returns each year. So they have been well tried and tested.

You Always Have Control of Your Data

When you use QuickBooks Online, you control who accesses your financial data. Each person you invite to use QuickBooks Online must create a unique password and no one - not even our cleverest programmer - can see it.

You can also set different permission levels for different people. This means that if you want a part-time contractor to enter their hours, but not access your latest cash flow details, QuickBooks Online will do it.

You can also export your reports as Excel spreadsheets, for an extra layer of comfort and control.

Then there's the always-on activity log and audit trail. These record every user who logs into the service and every change made to every financial transaction.

It gives you a complete record of every activity that was performed, and every change that was made to your figures. And nobody can turn these features off - so you can always see what was changed and who did it.

Our Secure Checkout
