Online data storage and backups

• All your financial data is kept securely on our servers. This means it's safe, even if your computer is damaged, lost, or stolen.
   
• We take regular backup copies of your data. These get saved to two places, just in case.
   
• We're registered with the US-EU Safe Harbor program - giving you extra confidence that your data is stored safely.

Your figures can't be read by anyone

• Your data is encrypted. This scrambles your figures so they can't be viewed without a password. Even if someone stole one of our disks, they wouldn't be able to read the information on it.
   
• Like online shops and financial institutions, we use secure encryption to transfer sensitive data over the internet. This is also called '128-bit SSL' - the same level used by most banks.

The data always belongs to you

• We'll never claim to own your data. After all, it's yours - so we won't stop you saving your reports as Excel spreadsheets to use as you like. Even with other accounting systems, if you really must.
   
• Access levels let you control who can see what in your business. If you have more than one person using QuickBooks Online, you can stop them seeing things they shouldn't.

It's available when you need it

• We believe you should be able to access your accounts any time. So we'll do everything we can to make QuickBooks Online more reliable than software installed on your own computer.
   
• It's anywhere access too. You can log in from almost any Mac or PC and many mobile phones¹, as long as you're online. No matter how you access the service, it's protected to the same high level.
