What is QuickBooks Small Business Big Success?

Small business success comes in many different sizes. It doesn’t just mean being the biggest, the most profitable or the fastest growing. It might be starting in business for the first time, getting ahead of plan, opening a new office, picking up a large new client or upping the number of employees. It’s about the everyday triumphs as you start, run and grow your business.

 

So, to celebrate and support your success, Intuit QuickBooks, the official main sponsor of Aston Villa Football Club, is launching Small Business Big Success in conjunction with the Birmingham Post and Mail and the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. Whatever your business  – whether you’re a butcher or builder, café owner or hairdresser, IT consultancy or accountancy practice - we want to hear your stories.

What exactly does the £20,000 grand prize package include?

The winner will receive a package that includes:

  • £10,000

  • Promotion at the Aston Villa v Southampton fixture on Saturday, 23rd April, 2016 including 3 minutes advertising on the camera facing LED screens and an advert in the match day programme

Who is eligible to enter?

You must adhere to the following guidelines. Full rules can be read here.

  • You must be a legal resident or UK citizen, and be 16 years or older.
  • You must own a small business, defined by having 50 or fewer full-time employees, and registered as a business with HMRC
  • You are either the small business owner or an employee, submitting with permission from the owner
  • Your business must be based in the West Midlands county (comprising Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Solihull, Walsall and Sandwell), Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire or Warwickshire

Why is it only open to businesses in the West Midlands?

This is a regional competition to highlight local businesses based in the West Midlands. Intuit QuickBooks runs contests on a regular basis, so follow us on Twitter at @QuickBooksUK or on Facebook to learn about other opportunities. 

How do I enter?

To enter, all you need to do is to visit www.quickbooks.co.uk/success and fill out the online form to tell us about your most compelling success story and how you want to develop your business in 2016. 

How many entries can I submit? What if I own multiple businesses?

You can only submit one entry per business.

When can I submit my entry?

Entry submission opens 0.01am on 12th January 2016 and closes 23.59 on 29th February 2016.

Any submissions received after this final date shall not be eligible.

How is the winner being selected? What is my story being judged on?

The winner will be selected by a panel of judges, based on the following criteria. The entry with the most points is the winner.

  • Owner shows passion and authentically represents its business (25%)
  • Small business has a compelling and interesting success story (25%)
  • Submission demonstrates how the prize package will impact its business (25%)
  • Small business appropriately represents Intuit and its values (25%)

Who will be on the judging panel?

The judging panel will be made up of the QuickBooks Director of Finance - Europe, Mike Williams, Aston Villa Football Club’s Chief Executive, Tom Fox, Birmingham Post and Mail’s Business and Agenda Editor, Graeme Brown and the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce’s President, Saqib Bhatti.

Is there any cost to enter? Do I need to be a QuickBooks customer?

There are no costs to enter. It’s free to participate and you do not have to own any QuickBooks products. 

How will my contact details be used?

All personal data submitted will be collected in accordance with Intuit’s privacy policy available at http://www.intuit.co.uk/privacy-policy.jsp.  We will use your contact information to invite you to the Awards Dinner, if applicable, and notify you if you are the grand prize winner of this competition.  Your contact information will not be made public.  Intuit may also use your contact information to inform you of Intuit products or services we think might interest you. However, if you do not wish to be contacted for promotional purposes, you can "opt out" by contacting us by post or e-mail.

When will the winner be announced?

The winner will be announced at the Awards Dinner at Villa Park on Tuesday, 22nd March 2016.  The winner will also be emailed separately to officially accept the prize.

Who is invited to the Awards Dinner?  Is there a cost?

The first 200 eligible small businesses to enter will be invited to the Awards Dinner and they can each bring 1 guest.  The event is only open to those that have received an invitation and RSVP’d beforehand. The event is free to attend.

Tell me more about the Awards Dinner?

The awards dinner will be at Villa Park on Tuesday 22nd March 2016.  It will include a sit-down dinner and business panel discussion with Aston Villa leadership.  The winner of the grand prize package will be announced.

QuickBooks Small Business Big Success - OFFICIAL RULES OF COMPETITION (“Official Rules”)

What is meant by “entrant”:

Entrant is an individual who has successfully filled in his or her details in the respective page of the Competition microsite.

 

How to participate:

In order to enter the Competition, the entrant must visit www.quickbooks.co.uk/success and fill out the web form including all the mandatory information requested including sharing in no more than 600 characters for each a) his/hers most compelling business success story and b) how he/she wants to develop the business in 2016.

 

Entrant Information:

All personal data shared by the entrants will be collected in accordance with Intuit’s privacy policy available at http://www.intuit.co.uk/privacy-policy.jsp By entering the Competition entrants acknowledge and accept that the personal data shared by the entrants may be used in other materials related to the Competition; this includes but is not limited to case studies that could be published on Intuit’s website, as well as the other print and online media. By entering the Competition, you acknowledge and consent to Intuit’s use of the personal data provided by you. No information will be made public without the entrant’s prior knowledge or approval.

Restrictions:

Employees of Intuit, Aston Villa Football Club, Trinity Mirror or any organisation professionally involved in this promotion, or their relatives, are not eligible to enter.

 

The Promoter is not responsible for any incomplete or incorrect entries which will prevent the entrant from being included in the judging process. Only one entry per entrant will be counted, and the promoter holds the right to disqualify any entrants suspected of entering incorrect or false personal information, or when the promoter has reasons to believe that the entrant has tried to gain multiple entries to the Competition.

 

Timing:

Submission of entries open on Tuesday 12th January, 2016 at 12.01am GMT and all entries must be received by Monday 29th February, 2016 at 11.59pm GMT (“Competition Period”).  Entries received by the Promoter outside the Competition Period will not be accepted. Intuit reserves the right to amend the Competition end date at any time.

 The first 200 (two-hundred) eligible entrants and a guest will be invited to the Awards Dinner held at Villa Park on Tuesday 22nd March 2016 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and will receive an email at the address supplied at the time of entering the Competition, containing all the information as well as the registration form for the event.

 

The mascot package includes two tickets for the match (one for the child plus 1 for the adult/guardian), a full replica home kit for the child, a pre-match warm up in the indoor academy for the child and a walk-out with the team for the child.

 

Winners to make their own way to Villa Park, Trinity Road, Birmingham, B6 6HE, United Kingdom. Travel not included. 

 

In order to take advantage of the advertising component of the Prize the winner will have to provide artwork, logo, other marketing assets necessary for the promotion and key information about the business as required no later than April 8th 2016. The winner must be available to cooperate to the drafting of the article in order to take advantage of such prize. All advertising and media will be subject to prior winner approval to be received no later than April 15th 2016. Intuit shall not be responsible if due to winner’s delay in providing the required information, assets or approvals some of the components of the Prize cannot be delivered.

 

There are no cash alternatives or alternative prizes available. Tickets are subject to certain terms and conditions. Seat locations will be determined by Intuit. Winner and any guests must comply with all venue rules and regulations and failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the prize. The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. The prize will not be transferable to another person. No part of the prize is exchangeable for cash or any other prize. Match  tickets cannot be sold. Any entrants aged 16 or 17 must be accompanied to the game by an adult aged 18 or over.

 

Current timing of the kick-off is expected to be 3pm GMT for the date outlined above but the Winner should check in advance for any change as the fixture is subject to change, for example to accommodate the requirements of television and/or for other reasons such as police requests.

 

Winner of the match tickets is responsible for notifying the promoter at the earliest possible date if the winner will not be able to attend the described game. Tickets will be sent via post prior to the game.

 

 

Selecting the Winner:

All submissions will be reviewed and the winner will be selected by a panel of judges including QuickBooks’ Director of Finance - Europe, Mike Williams; Aston Villa Football Club’s CEO, Tom Fox; the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce’s President, Saqib Bhatti and the Birmingham Post and Mail’s Business and Agenda Editor, Graeme Brown. The selection will be based on the judges assessing the entrants against the following criteria:

  • Owner shows passion and authentically represents its business (25%)
  • Small business has a compelling and interesting success story (25%)
  • Submission demonstrates how the prize package will impact its business (25%)
  • Small business appropriately represents Intuit and its  values (25%).

The judges’ decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

 

Notifying Winner:

The winner of all prizes will be announced at the Awards Dinner at Villa Park on 22nd March 2016 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and will receive an email at the address supplied at the time of entering the competition with the notification. The winner will then need to respond within three working days to claim the prize and provide the postal address where tickets will be sent by post. If the winner does not respond timely, winner will be forfeiting the prize and Intuit reserves the right to choose an alternative winner in accordance to this Official Rules.

 

General Conditions:

By participating, you agree: (a) to abide by these Official Rules and decisions of Intuit, which shall be final and binding in all respects relating to this Promotion; (b) to release, discharge and hold harmless Intuit, Aston Villa Football Club and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the foregoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind to persons, or property resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the Competition or any Promotion-related activity or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any awarded prize; By participating, you also agree not to release any publicity or other materials on your own or through someone else regarding participation in the Competition without the prior consent of Intuit.  If there is a dispute as to the identity of an online entrant, the prize will be awarded to the authorized account holder of the email address and entrant must comply with these Official Rules. The “authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person to whom the email address is assigned by an Internet service provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.

 

Miscellaneous:

Released Parties are not responsible for any errors or difficulties of any kind or otherwise relating to the Promotion, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Promotion, the processing or judging of Entries, the announcement of the prizes, or the incorrect uploading of the Entry or in any Promotion-related materials.  Intuit reserves the right to disqualify any person and void their associated Entries in the event Intuit determines there is tampering with the Competition or that person is acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. If Intuit believes any portion of the Competition has been compromised by any means, which impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of Entries, Intuit reserves the right to suspend, modify or terminate the Competition and, if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential winner(s) from all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to action taken using the judging procedure outlined above.

 

Governing Law/Jurisdiction:

All issues and questions concerning these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of participants or Intuit in connection with the Competition shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, without giving any effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules.  Any dispute shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.

Severability:  If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.
